August 11: Medford to LA

Liam: Sean woke me up at 6:45 this morning; I got up and got a bowl of cereal. While I ate Owen and Sean joined me. We said good-bye to Uncle Owen and then jumped on Nate to say good-bye. We hopped in the car and started off for Los Angeles. I fell asleep in the car, when I awoke we were at a gas station filling up. I fell back asleep and woke up around eleven o’clock; at about 1 in the afternoon we stopped at an In-N-Out Burger just south of Sacramento. At 6:10 we pulled up to Grandma and Grandpa’s house, we arrived Grandpa ordered pizza, Sean and Grandpa left to go get the pizza and as they left Lesje, Aidan, and Isle walked in. We all ate and then played a few games of Some-R-Set. The cousins left and we all got ready for bed.

Owen: Trying not to sound like a broken record today, I won’t repeat all that was said by my brilliant brother. After we all awoke, said our farewells, and departed from our uncle’s house, we set out on our drive. This leg of our journey was sure to be long and boring, for it was an 11-hour car ride with nothing to look at but dust and tractors, or so our initial inclinations had us believe. The drive that we were all dreading went by fairly quickly and painlessly due to frequent stops at gas stations and “In-n-Out” burger joints, along with podcasts of “How Stuff Works” to keep us entertained in between. Chuck and Josh were our saviors, informing us in full detail about toxoplasmosis and other wonderfully delightful topics. After finishing a bag of tropical starbursts, almost all of which were purple (the worst flavor; tastes like a mix of lavender extract and cat urine) I might add, and missing our exit, we arrived at Malcolm Avenue, our destination for the evening. The night was filled with stories and Some-R-set and we were filled with pizza…

Sean: Can’t really think of anything to add to today. I drove a long way but the weather was nice and we the traffic was good. We didn’t even hit any traffic in LA! Ohh and the grilled cheese at In-N-Out is just as good as the burgers J
